Day 15 - 104km, first donation

The hooman has only just realised that she can update the blog - sheesh.

Well we are half way though the month
We have walked a total of 104km - but Chiko has probably walked twice that cos he has short teeny weeny legs.
Chiko is a mini foxy cross, is about 14 years old, which is about 98 in hooman years and he loves getting out and about with us.  He’s lucky cos the hooman lets him off the leash, he’s a good boy and walks with her.  She calls it getting on the Chiko train.

I am Suki, a French Bulldog - I am what my hooman calls me - not standard cos of my coat colour, it matches her hair, HA, meh who cares, I’m adorable, and I am 8 mths old now.  I am loving meeting new animals like kangaroos and deer, my fav the horses.  I almost walked on something called a snake - my hooman was super leary of it, said if it was sunny I could be dead, but whatever that is, cos it was super venomous.  I don’t smell very well, cos my nose is squished to my face, but I do love what I am smelling.  I reckon I have walked three times and far as the hooman - cos I love to run up and down and all around, she sometimes lets me off the leash if it’s early enough and there aren’t too many people or other dogs around, I love it.  But my recall is “Pooh”, and I still love to jump on people when I greet them, and apparently that impolite.

Today was 2 degrees - but out hooman, puts our jackets on and then when we are nice and warmed up, takes them off and carries them. Chiko shakes like he is getting frozen - weirdo, so our hooman picks him up and gives him a quick cuddle - he’s such a suck up.

When we walk, my hooman tells us why we are walking.  That hooman pups get sick and need to sleep close to the hospital so the money we raise will go towards their accomodation. It makes me proud.  Today my hooman was crying ugly tears, cos we got out very first money donation.  We love when she reads all the encouragement messages - but I felt real proud knowing that a wee pup was going to be comfortable while getting the medical care they needed.

So day 15 and we have hit a couple of goals.  Our hooman goes to Tasmania for her birthday soon, so Jorja is going to walk the last week with us and Mum will walk in Tasmania - we will FaceTime and share those pictures.

We are back

Sunday 21st Jul
I have been resting my knee. But today was such a nice day. After cleaning the house we go the dogs ready and seconded to head to Penrith and do the Penrith loop or Bridge walk.  Or both. It was such a nice day. Everyone was out. It was a great opportunity to do a bit of training for both the for kids and find a nice cafe to have a nice lunch.
We took leisurely walk along the road and  talked about the beautiful homes along the way. Suki was a little reactive to a few of the doodle mixes and chiko do bark a little bit, but they settled into the walk about 15 minutes on. Which is faster than normal.
We stopped at the Laughin Boy and I had a Lobster Rol and Jorja had the Bao Bun. Suki and Chiko got to try some and had the wee snack I brought, and snuck in a wee sleep.  Delish.
We were on our way and got back to the car around 3.30pm.
It was a long afternoon, but just so nice to get out.

Meniscus

Thursday 18th Jul
A few years age while playing netball I injured my meniscus and lately during this cold weather I have felt a bit stiff in the knee. So today I took it very easy and we theee just stayed close to home.  We took a very short long walk around the neighbourhood.  Too our time to chat to neighbours we hadn’t seen in awhile, let the fur kids meet new friends and old..  snif around the scent telegram and just enjoy the chill factor. Tomorrow is another day and another opportunity to raise another dollar for kids that are needing a little bit of medical attention :)

Opportunity

Wednesday 17th Jul
I was wrecked today. I had a sesh with a behaviouralist - Paige - she’s so cool, she has yummy treats, knows her stuff, which I need cos I am a bit reactive, a bully to my cat siblings (pish not) and can sometimes be quite mean to Chiko, I’m 8 months man, I am still learning, Then I had obedience training at the Kennel Club. I freaking rocked that and did so much better than my first time.  Mum put into practise what we learned earlier with Paige and I didn’t want to steal Opal and Ollie’s treats,  I wore my yellow - I need space bandana, and there was a loud screeching Frenchie there, embarrassing.  I don’t Know why the old man man doesn’t have to do it. But what eves. So this morning I was not even getting out of my bed.  Mum left us alone until late this arvo.  We walked to pick up her car. Which was cool cos we got treats when we got there.  Jorja came and I walked with her.  She is funny, cos it’s like I am the bestest dog, she just thinks I’m so clever, always taking photos. Best part was we were on busy streets, and so Chiko, had to stay on his leash - HA! I saw what a real train track was and it didn’t look anything like Chiko. The HUGE thing that was on it was very noisy.  Dads birthday was today too, so we got him a cake and some yummy food. Got home, had dinner and I we got back into bed.  Out the Jo we go.
I’m hope we walk past the horses tomorrow. I miss them :)

16 July - Feeling it

Tuesday 16th Jul
This morning we were all feeling a bit to snug in our warm cosy beds.  Hooman loves to walk early, sets her up for her day she reckons. Old man Chiko tries to bury himself deep in his bed but she still coaxes him out with the best belly scratches. Today even she was slow to get ready.
She kept things local and we rocked out new jackets with zips.  I tried to rub mine off, it just would not budge so I gave up.
We switched things up a bit and did a bit of leash work and obedience training, with my favourites - treats. Chiko is so old and a sick up he just gets on the train and gets treats handed to him. He is still pretty cute, I guess.  He did chase me a bit which I LOVED! He’s pretty fast for an old guy :) x
I had my very first behaviour training session with Animal Wellness and Behaviour peep - Paige, she had great treats. Best of all more donations for the hooman pups today. So proud of us.  I wonder if I could be one of those care dogs and I could give cuddles all day long.  Chiko could - he’s almost a fossil.
